It’s Thrifting Thursday! Aunt C. and I had planned on heading North today to search for treasures. Unfortunately, she was not feeling well so I ended up flying solo today.
Some things are sacred–like our trips North. I will not go without her, she loves going so much. Instead, I headed in a grittier direction and hoped for the best.
One of places I went today was having a book sale. A massive book sale with bookcases overflowing. Books were stacked on the floor, on tables, on chairs and sometimes three layers deep on the shelves. The deal: fill a shopping basket for one flat price.
Books are one of my most favorite things to buy. I rely on my “Spidey-Sense” to help me choose what comes home. I look for Vermont titles, quirky non-fiction, beautifully illustrated children’s books, signed by the author first editions and anything that catches my eye.
My rules today were simple:
- ONE basket full.
- ONE book for keeps.
- ONE book for Mom.
Here’s what I brought Home:

I purchased 26 books; even with mileage and time factored in I think I did quite well.
The next step is to assess condition of each book; I’ll do a quick search for sold prices–this’ll help me determine which books are worth listing online, which ones will go in the lawn sale in the spring, and which ones will go to my book nook at the local consignment shop.
Comment below which book you think might be the ringer in this group!
